About Dr. G
Dr. Ashley Geoghegan has always had a deep love for animals, beginning with her first cat, Cloud, whom she rescued off the roadside when she was six years old. Born and raised in New Orleans, Dr. G has been volunteering or working at veterinary practices since early high school.
Dr. G received her B.S. degree in biology from the University of Miami, which she attended on an Army ROTC scholarship. While in college, she graduated from the Army Officer Basic Course as well as paratrooper school and received the Outstanding Cadet Excellence Award. Upon graduation, she was commissioned as Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. Dr. G attended Louisiana State University where she earned her Doctorate Degree in Veterinary Medicine and served as the president of the Louisiana Veterinary Medical Board Student Chapter all four years. After graduating from veterinary school, she was commissioned as a Captain in the US Army.

Dr. Geoghegan is a vegetarian and an animal welfare activist. She volunteers at St. Tammany Humane Society and is on the fundraising team for the annual Pooch Parade. She chaired the Spaymart Emergency Hotline and has worked with the local trap/spay and neuter/release programs. After Hurricane Katrina, she volunteered as a pet rescue veterinarian.
